OBJECTIVES

Based on Dr. Huda’s ‘DECISION’ Therapeutic Model, this course will demonstrate the best methods to teach students self-control, self-management and ultimately self-regulation via hands on activities. Participants will practice in-depth therapeutic interventions that will:

 

Designate 3 steps that schools can take to create a classroom environment for developing self-regulating executive control.

 

Help students successfully self-regulate emotions in various situations by increasing their situational awareness skill.

 

Help students improve their foresight and self-talk.

 

Help students visually and verbally self-identify how they’re functioning and perform mental rehearsals.

 

Teach students strategies and tools to decrease their maladaptive behaviors and increase their positive interactions.

 

Implement treatment interventions for improving impulse control and working memory

 

Introduce sensory support tools, cognitive strategies and calming techniques to foster self-control and increase the ability to pay attention
